This Is Your Captain Speaking:

I got to thinking about death. Of the 3 major ways to travel; airplane, automobile, and walking, which is the safest way to travel? So, I decided to look up statistics from the mid 90's to 2009. Well of the 3, of course airplanes were the safest when it came to total fatalities. In 1994 the total deaths from airplane related accidents were 1,057 fatalities. Where automobile related deaths for the same year were 40,716. Now yes I know there are a lot more cars than airplanes, but overall hazards for airplanes are a lot worse. For example, following the correct guidelines, pilots, when in flight, have one way to go if something goes wrong, DOWN. Also, negligence to proper driving is becoming increasingly evident, and more hazardous is automobiles. From 2005 to 2009 deaths cause by cellphone/mobile electronics increase from 10% to 19%. If that number increases by that rate from 2009 to 2014 will be 19% to 28%. And that just doesn't sit too well with me. And the last mode of transportation is walking/running. Going back to the statistics of deaths in '94, the number of deaths among pedestrians was 5,489. Which scares me, because I walk almost everywhere. Now, let's put all this in perspective; in 1998, the deaths in airplanes were 670; the number of automobile deaths were 41,501; and lastly the death of pedestrians were 5,228. Which were more than suicides, homicides, and non-car related accident combined, of deaths from ages 15-24 in 1998. In conclusion with the airlines cracking down on pilots drinking, and banning the use of cellphones onboard an airplane period. If I had a choice, my way of travel would be, statistically, by airplane. So people who laugh at me, and call me a loser because I don't drive. When statistically you're more at risk of dying before me...............What's That All About?

Tacos Or B.O.?

So I was working out tonight, and noticed something halfway through my workout. I was walking to the dumbells and noticed a smell. The smell was amazing like I was making homemade tacos. As I got closer to the dumbells, the "taco" smell went away and abruptly turned into some seriously bad B.O. So I looked around and noticed this creepy-looking guy working out beside me. This man has a reputation for being a smelly pervert, because he smells and takes pictures of womens' asses with his phone. I personally have seen him taking pictures of many asses while working out. I'm glad we have such colorful people working out there. It makes working out quick and uninterupted. When you have those type of people in there you try not to talk to them. There are still some instances where you have to make small talk, but that's it. Back to the subject, some people need to invest in deodorant and quick! I mean seriously, if you think about it just a little bit. The earth is warming gradually. So if you put the 2 together you should think, "Hey, maybe I'm gonna sweat. Even if it's not a lot, it might cause me to smell like shit!" If you have any question about maybe you want to go somewhere, and you might even for a second think you're going to reek like a fat guy running a marathon....GO PUT ON SOME DEODERANT! So my question tonight is; White people who smell like Taco Bell when we're nowhere close to the border....What's That All About?

Who's Right?

So I've been thinking a lot about the Solar System, and the way hardcore Christians believe that God created the Universe. Where on the other hand, scientist believe that we all started with a "bang." These 2 sides think that they're right because of certain evidence that helps their theories. For example, scientists have proven over time that the Universe is still expanding. In turn, the Bible depicts the first week of existence word for word in the Bible. Now everyone has their own belief in the subject, but who's right? So what if God lit a firecracker, and that firecracker had the Universe inside. God lit the firecracker and ran like a bat out of hell. The firecracker explodes making the Universe we "see" today? I know, it's outlandish, but maybe that's how it came to be? Is the theory perfect.......not at all, but it does have a valid point. A point, in which, both scientists and Christians could possibly agree on. Yeah, I know, bullshit! So my question today is: If a murder is in court, and you bring sufficient evidence, for his guilt or for his freedom, to the case forward, but can't decide on which is true. What's That All About?

The Return

Yes, believe it or not, I'm finally back! I'm sorry for the long hiatus, but now is where I return for good! So let's get going. This weeks blog is just going to be a observational one. Well i guess all of mine are, but this one has no specific subject. So here goes......Let me start by saying it's good to FINALLY be back! While I was gone, I heard a saying used a lot, and i want to talk a little bit about it. The saying is, "You're gonne be my guina pig." Honestly if someone said hat to me I'd be scared shitless. Why, you ask? Just think about it. Scientist use useless animals for experiments, like guina pigs. Now they use guina pigs because they're small insignificant, they have no soul, and they're probably going to die. So if someone calls you their "guina pig" RUN! Because they either find you useless, insignificant, but most likely you're going to die. Moving forward, my wife and i were talking earlier this week about what we married into. She made the comment that she's emotional, and i knew that when i married her. So it got me to thinking..what if the parents of the wife/groom had to write everything down thats bad about the person you're marrying before you got married. like you go up to get you're marriage license, and before you sign the marriage application you had to read everything that you're parents don't like about you. But, they also would have to write everything down that's good about you too. For example, Johnny and Sara go up to get a marriage application, and Johnny reads that Sara snores in her sleep, chews with her mouth open, sucks at doing dishes, and hates little kids. And Sara discovers that Johnny wets the bed....still, has never cleaned his room, can't cook, and kissed his cousin when he was 13. Do you think they'd see eachother in the same light? I don't think so, but it would definitley cut down on divorces.......maybe! Either way, if my wife knew all the things i sucked at before we got married she probably would've thought twice about marriage. But the good thing about not knowing about the little things that drive you nuts is when you do discover them you can either ignore them or embrace them. Most people ignore them.....i know i TRY to, but sometimes they're just too overwhelming. So my question this week is; Couples who use marriage as an experiment to try and better a failing relationship, What's that all about?

Too Much Pressure?

Today I was thinking a lot about my past, and it got me on the subject of peer pressure. Now I can't say that I was subject to peer pressure, but I do know of a lot of people that were. What am I talking about? We're all subject to peer pressure. From learning how to talk, to eating foods we don't want to. Peer pressure start from your family, and proceeds to the culture around you. I remember when I was 6, and I had to wear this gray sweat outfit for a play. I begged my dad to not let me wear it, but all he said was, "why not, everyone else is wearing it." So I found comfort in the thought of wearing the outfit. Now take that same concept, and replace the outfit with drugs or cigarettes. Same concept right? As long as I can find solace in the fact that my friends are doing it makes it ok? No, it doesn't. Now, there's a thin line between peer pressure and encouragement. That thin line is fear. The fear of failure. See, we all have this voice inside our head telling us if something is right or wrong. Is peer pressure the encouragement to try something bad? Is encouragement the peer pressure to try something good? Either way you perceive it, both can be taken in a negative way. Both have the common characteristic of fear. My dad knew that I was afraid of wearing the outfit because I looked bad in it. He encouraged me to break me past the barrier of fear. When I turned 18, all my friends tried to get me to smoke. Telling me that one puff wouldn't kill me. But just like with the outfit, I was filled with fear. The fear of going against my beliefs, and looking like a fool. So I said no, because I knew it was bad. Peer pressure and encouragement are separated by one thing.....you. Your perception on what's right and wrong. So my question tonight is............Smokers that look like death, that come up to me and say smoking makes you look cool.......What's That All About?

Where's The Party?

So if you know me, you know that I work out, and I couldn't help but notice something. We're gonna take a little time tonight to talk about the "gym scene." So working out tonight I noticed that a lot of bigger women were wearing shorts, and the smaller more fit girls were wearing pants. Now what happened along the evolutionary timeline to where this "flip" happened in the gym? Why is it now that the more fit women cover up a lot more, and the bigger ladies started to show off more? Maybe its just pure comfort? Maybe its just pure convenience? It takes a lot of courage to even step in a gym, let alone, work out in basically you're underwear. So I came to the conclusion that the bigger ladies wear less just to be cooler, but the more fit women put more clothes on to ward away the wandering eyes at the gym. But this is just an observation, so I hope I don't offend anybody. So I guess my question tonight is.....Bigger ladies who bring their cottage cheese to the gym, where there's clearly not a party......What's That All About?

Gender Assignments

So, for some reason today, I've came acrossed a lot of gender confusing conversations. So I believe its my duty to set up some sort of gender assignments. So there's a lot of confusion amongst both genders about mostly, body hair. So in this installment, we're gonna tackle the subject of gender-bending body hair. I, for one, hate body hair. I shave my chest, the top of my legs, and you know, the region around there. But I do have lower leg hair, and arm hair. Here are the gender assignmentss that need to be in place. Guys with no arm or leg hair....no! Girls with arm and leg hair.....hell no! Guys with facial hair, that's ok! Girls with facial hair....no! Guys with chest/ab/back hair, ok. Girls with back/stomach/chest hair, no! Now this just small realization about body hair I had today. I hope this helps a lot of men and women with their "confusion" about body hair. So all I have to ask is, girls with dark black arm hair........What's That All About?
